The deceased were identified as Arafat, 6, son of Abul Kalam of Faridabad village and Asma Akter, 6, daughter of Saddam Hossain of Baikunthapur village.

The accident occurred around 8 am when the sand-laden truck hit the bicycle of Abul Kalam when he along with the three children were heading towards Darussalam Islamia Alia Madrasha, leaving three injured, said Muktar Hossain, sub-inspector of Sudharam Model Police Station.

Later, they were taken to Noakhali General Hospital where the doctors declared the two children dead.
